Backing it up.

I was fighting with my original shading for. . .I don’t know how long, trying to get the shading to look right. Finally I gave up and started over.

Took a hint from Eloh Eliot, and started giving layer modes some love. Now it sounds obvious, but I wasn’t into the tint of the shadows/highlights when I first flipped through the psd. I’m still drawing from scratch, though. I also know I might have to play with opacity, since I dumped it in SLCP, and. . .high-contrast is a good way to describe it. Obviously I’ll need to do in-world testing, but the idea is at least in the back of my mind.

Still, with only the lower half of the nose “done” (I know for a fact I’ll poke at the shading and/or highlights later, but it’s good enough to sit for a while) I love it a lot more than what I had maybe three hours ago.

Starting with a whimper.

So, (First) Life Happened. I did get some rough face shadows sketched in, and started sculpting in the nose, though.

On the other hand, I just dropped almost L$200 on hair. Oops.

Tired, so that’s that.

In which I declare my optimistic SL goal.

So I think I mostly have the blog set up the way I want to , though I might still fiddle with it for a few days. Mostly the little about section, which might–shock–be a neater version of this post.

Anyway, I’m Liira Nakajima on Second Life, and this blog is meant to chronicle my adventures in starting a business with . . . L$363 and absolutely no products. Fun times.  I do have a name, though: “Neon Tsunami Designs.” The blog title might have helped you there. However, don’t be alarmed–not everything will be neon. :)

In fact, I won’t be touching the neon colors for a while, since I plan to start with… skin. Yeah, you heard me. I know it’s going to be a tough road, but I say bring it on.

Since I have no products, and thus no permanent physical presence there, notecards or IM would be the best way to hit me up in-world if you feel like it. Hell, I’ll even make a group as soon as I get enough interest in it. Comments here are good too, just don’t be shocked if it doesn’t show up right away–I’m playing it rather safe with comment moderation until I get more custom filters set up.
